Ravens Wrap Intro Filming

Though it was a long night of smoke and mirrors, the Baltimore Ravens managed to make some magic, as filming wrapped Friday, June 2 for the team's introduction for the SmartVision boards at M&T Bank Stadium.

Alan Ricard gets filmed lifting weights.

Titled "I am a Raven," the video will encompass what it entails to achieve the final result the Ravens bring to the field on Sundays. "It's an extraordinary, high-end production shoot designed to give the fans a sense of what all of our guys go through to get ready to come out of that tunnel," said senior director of broadcasting Larry Rosen, who will co-produce the piece with broadcasting manager Lauryn Lukin.

"It should be incredibly energetic and really juice people up for the game," Rosen continued.

The shoot took place at Ravens headquarters in Owings Mills, Md. last Thursday, spilling over into the wee hours of Friday morning. The Ravens' broadcasting department pulled out all the stops, utilizing smoke machines, laser and strobe lights, with the various areas of the team facility serving as a backdrop.

The dedicated players stopped by in shifts throughout the night and were filmed lifting weights, throwing the football, watching film and taking the field. There is even a cameo of the Ravens' Super Bowl trophy, which the team won in Super Bowl XXXV.

Once completed, the piece will run for the first time on August 11, for the inaugural preseason game of the 2006 season against the New York Giants. Until then, Ravens fans can go behind the scenes of the shoot, with an exclusive feature on the Ravens Playbook Media Center. Also, be on the lookout for the official trailer of the intro, airing later this summer!

Image Engineering's staff stayed up with the Raven's to provide CO2 effects, pyrotechnics, lasers, and haze for the all night shoot. "It was a great opportunity to interact with our hometown heroes." said Image Engineering pyrotechnician, JP Nunnemaker.
