Specialty Laser Effects

In addition to laser scans, Image Engineering ® can break the beam of laser light by using special materials called gratings. Flexible plastic or more expensive, but more durable glass optical components are embedded with microscopic lines that break up the beam passing through it. The gratings can be transmissive (light passes through the substrate as in a machida grating) or reflective (light bounces off the effect as in a diffraction effect). Other optical effects include Lumia which utilizes varying textured plastic gels that refract the beam into nebulus patterns when projected onto a surface. .
